Only 3 Norwegians to the Women’s Skiathlon
Norway can field up to four cross-country skiers in the 15-kilometer skiathlon at the Beijing Olympics on Saturday. However, only three Norwegian skiers are registered for the skiathlon on Saturday, February 5.
The women’s skiathlon is the first of the cross-country skiing events at the Beijing Olympics. The mass start event opens with a 7.5- kilometer classic leg, followed by 7.5-kilometer skate leg.

Tiril Udnes Weng could potentially be a candidate for the skiathlon team, but has opted to sit out the event.
Originally, two spots on the Norwegian skiathlon team were reserved for Heidi Weng or Anne Kjersti Kalvå. However, they both tested positive for Covid-19 at the pre-Olympics training camp in Italy last week. Kalvå was replaced by Haga.
Weng is still in Italy, but could potentially make it to China for the last half of the Olympics.
Defending champion from the 15-kilometer skiathlon is Charlotte Kalla of Sweden. She is back to defend her title this year. This is Sweden’s team to the skiathlon events, both men and women.
The women’s 15-kilometer skiathlon takes place at 8:45 am (CET) on Saturday, February 5.
