The former World Champion is single again after a relationship that lasted for several years.

Niklas Dyrhaug and Frida Martinsen are no longer together. The former World Champion confirms it himself.

“Yes, I can confirm that,” the 38-year-old from Norway tells VG.

Dyrhaug has been in a relationship with Martinsen since 2017, but does not wish to comment further on the breakup.

Long career

Dyrhaug was dropped from the national team in 2020 and retired from World Cup racing ahead of the 2021/2022 Olympic season at the age of 34. The cross-country profile had struggled with a shoulder injury since the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang.

After retiring, Dyrhaug has worked as an expert commentator for cross-country skiing on Viaplay, which holds the rights to all World Cup competitions outside Norway.

Dyrhaug won World Championships gold in both 2015 and 2017. He also took bronze in the 15km classic at the 2017 World Championships. At the Olympics, his best result was 13th place in the 50km in 2018.

He made his World Cup debut in 2009. Over a 12-year career at that level, he competed in 119 races, reached the podium ten times, and claimed three victories.

Dyrhaug also has four Norwegian Championships medals, three silver and one bronze, all in skiathlon.
