Johannes Høsflot Klæbo’s entire season could be at risk following the dramatic crash during the sprint in Drammen on Thursday.

Klæbo was taken directly to the hospital after the crash in the semifinal of the sprint in Drammen, where he remained under observation for several hours.

The Norwegian Ski Association has now provided an update on the star skier’s condition. Klæbo was examined at Drammen Hospital following the crash.

“It was concluded that he suffered a mild head injury, a light concussion. That means he must consider this in the days ahead,” said national team doctor Ove Feragen in a statement from the Norwegian Ski Association on Friday morning.

Misses Holmenkollen 50km

What is already confirmed is that Klæbo will not compete in Saturday’s 50km race in Holmenkollen.

“That means, first of all, that he will not start in Saturday’s 50km in Holmenkollen. We will monitor his progress closely and make ongoing assessments regarding when it will be appropriate for him to resume training and potential upcoming competitions,” Feragen said.

This also means Klæbo could miss the World Cup final in Lake Placid next week.

“It is too early to say whether he will compete in the World Cup final in the USA. Considering the circumstances, he is doing well and will travel home to Trondheim later today,” said national team doctor Ove Feragen.
