Frida Karlsson, the Swedish cross-country skiing star, will train with the German national team during a training camp in Torsby next week. At the same time, the Swedish national team will be on site.
Last spring, Frida Karlsson had chosen to train outside the Swedish national team during summer. Another difference is that Karlsson’s coach, Per Nilsson, will coach the German national team but will continue as her coach.
Next week, many national teams will be in Torsby for a training camp. German national team will be there and also the Swedish national team, but Frida Karlsson will train together with the Germans:
“Frida’s new situation is exciting in many ways. She has a very high capacity, so Frida will probably give more than she gets in the sessions, but Hennig and Carl have other strengths, and they might be able to learn a bit from each other,” says Per Nilsson to Norwegian VG.
The Swedish national team manager Anders Byström also commented on the topic:
“There will be big things about it, but there is no drama for us. It won’t be that special,” says Byström to VG.
According to VG, Frida Karlsson will be in Torsby from August 14 to 21, the German national team will arrive on the 17th, and the Swedish national team from August 18 to 25. After that, the blue-and-yellow skiers will head to Trollhättan Action Week (with races like Alliansloppet, a Ski Classics Challengers event), while Frida Karlsson and Maja Dahlqvist (who is also training outside the Swedish national team) will travel to Norway to start at Toppidrettsweek.
