Places opening for skiing in October

Idre Fjäll: October 17

“We start the cross-country season already in October, thanks to our stored snow. Here, the tracks open early so that you can take your first laps long before winter has truly arrived. Our tracks wind through the mountain forest and offer sparkling views, fresh mountain air, and the feeling that winter is finally here,” writes Idre Fjäll on its website.

Vålådalen: October 18

“The 2025 cross-country premiere is fast approaching – October 18 is the date! For this season’s opening, we’ve saved more snow than ever before – 30% more than last year! That means we’ll lay down an even thicker layer of snow so that the tracks will better withstand any warm spells,” writes Vålådalens Fjällstation on social media.

Bruksvallarna: October 25

“Bruksvallarna is preparing for early cross-country tracks and welcomes all ski enthusiasts on October 25, 2025. This year, we’ve again saved a lot of snow. We’ll spread it over a longer and slightly flatter course for the best possible training conditions. Welcome to the 2025 pre-season in Bruksvallarna,” writes Bruksvallarna on its website.

Orsa Grönklitt: October 25

“During week 43, we hope to start spreading our stored snow on the artificial snow tracks and the multi-track (around Rädsjön), with the goal of opening for skiing on Saturday, October 25, 2025,” writes Grönklitt on its website.

Högbo Bruk: Weeks 44–46

Högbo Bruk expects to open sometime between late October and mid-November, according to their website: “We expect to open the artificial snow tracks sometime between weeks 44 and 46.”
