Finland will be without one of its biggest cross-country skiing names this weekend, as Krista Pärmäkoski will not compete at the World Cup in Davos, Switzerland.

Pärmäkoski announced on her social media channels that she is returning home earlier than planned due to illness.

The Finnish star explained the situation:

“Davos wouldn’t have disappointed this time either, but the virus won, and the trip home starts earlier than planned,” she wrote on a post on her social media channel, adding:

“The difficulties that began last weekend will likely continue now or possibly become clearer. What’s certain is that the original race calendar will change, and we’ll start thinking about a new plan. Plan B has worked before, and we have to believe in it now, too.”
