Sweden’s Emma Ribom has tested positive for Covid and will miss the World Cup in Oslo this weekend.

Yesterday, the Swedish national team announced that Emma Ribom would not be able to compete in the World Cup sprint race in Drammen, Norway, this week.

Ribom had been in close proximity to fellow national team racer Marcus Grate, who had tested positive for Covid after returning from the World Cup in Lahti last weekend.

On Thursday, Ribom was experiencing Covid-symptoms, and then tested positive for Covid in a rapid-test.

Ribom was also named to the Swedish to the 30-kilometer event at the World Cup in Oslo/Holmenkollen on Saturday March 5.

The 24-year-old, who just posted her first World Cup podium in a sprint race last weekend, was hoping to travel to Oslo later this week and compete in the distance race in Holmenkollen, but that is no longer happening.

Lovisa Modig will replace Ribom in the 30-kilometer event on Saturday.

So far. none of the other national team racers selected for the World Cup this week have tested positive, says Sweden’s team physician Jan Wall in a press release on Wednesday afternoon. However, the team is monitoring all the racers closely.
