Drama during and after the women’s sprint at the Swedish Championships
Moa Hansson was first across the finish line but received a time penalty for a situation during the sprint, meaning that Linn Sömskar, who was second over the finish line, took the gold.
There was a lot of drama during today’s women’s final in the Swedish Championships sprint. Alicia Persson reached the front with a couple hundred meters to go, and then there was an attack from all sides.
Moa Hansson changed track just before the finish but just before Linn Sömskar, who was clearly hindered:
“I didn’t know anyone was there; when I checked, no one was there,” says Moa Hansson to SVT.
Hansson was the fastest across the finish line but received a time penalty, meaning she finished sixth in the final. Sömskar, who was second across the finish line, took the gold, thus taking her second gold in two days.
“It doesn’t feel the same to win that way,” says Linn Sömskar to SVT.
Jackline Lockner took the silver medal and Alicia Persson the bronze.
