The Visma Ski Classics celebrated its Season XII, and it has been a long way for the Pro Tour from the early days to its current existence with 14 events all around Europe. Along the Pro Tour, another circuit took place, the Visma Ski Classics Challengers.
Anders Aukland, Team Ragde Charge, awarded with the Visma Ski Classics Veteran bib Season XII. After the Season XII finale in Ylläs-Levi, we saw a close competition for the Veteran bib at the SC Ranking between Anders Aukland and Stanislav Řezač.
Team Kaskipuu was the Finnish newcomer in the Visma Ski Classics Season XII. The Pro Team decided to join Ski Classics only late in the summer and the first Pro Tour season brought positive experiences.
Team Ramudden had some fantastic years, and the women have taken the lead and paved the way for the Pro Team. In the 2020/2021 season, Jenny Larsson was a skier who asserted in all Visma Ski Classics events. This season, she has not started a single race due to an injury to her wrist that doctors could not diagnose until many months after it occurred.
Estonian Pro Team skier Mart Kevin Põlluste, Team Nordic Jobs Worldwide, is leaving competitive skiing behind him. However, he will continue as a Pro Team Director for his team.
Finnish Pro Team, Team Mäenpää, suffered from illnesses in mid-winter, which still affected their performances in the spring. The problems started during Marcialonga and forced the skiers who were supposed to ski the most races during the winter and collect points for the team, to step aside.
Visma Ski Classics Season XII contained 14 events, and now the poll has been conducted on which race was most popular. The award is decided after a vote by Pro Team Athletes, staff, and Visma Ski Classics officials. The title Event of the Season goes to the Prato Piazza Mountain Challenge, which received 20.2% of the votes.
Astrid Øyre Slind, Team Koteng Eidissen, has taken the most significant career victories during Season XII. The wins at Vasaloppet and Birken stand out, but it was not enough for a total win in Visma Ski Classics. However, the 34-year-old won the Climb bib competition.
