Visma Ski Classics Challengers Completed A Successful Season

by Leandro Lutz • 26.04.2022
The Visma Ski Classics celebrated its Season XII, and it has been a long way for the Pro Tour from the early days to its current existence with 14 events all around Europe. Along the Pro Tour, another circuit took place, the Visma Ski Classics Challengers.

The Visma Ski Classics Challengers was launched in 2019, after Season IX, in order to connect and promote long-distance skiing events worldwide.

The Ski Classics Challengers circuit is a great success, and for Season XII, 45 events joined the tour in 14 different countries. Sweden and Norway were active countries as thirteen events were from the home of Vasaloppet and eight from the land of fjords. But there were many other skiing countries, such as Austria, France, Finland, Italy, Germany, Iceland, Russia, Greenland, Latvia, Estonia, Canada, and the USA.

When all the events were put together, there was 2.386km of ski and rollerski tracks available, with 25 events in classic technique, 8 in skating, 11 classic rollerski events, and 1 skating rollerski race.

Of these 45 events, five had to be canceled because of the Covid-19 pandemic, weather conditions, and lost status, preventing the races from taking place. Below you will find a complete list of the events that were held this season and the ones that needed to be canceled.
