Is MTB Eliminator a new sport for you? Here’s everything you need to know

XCE (cross-country eliminator) is a mountain bike race format where four riders compete against each other on a short circuit. In each heat, the two fastest riders advance to the next round, while the two slower riders are eliminated from the race.

The course resembles an XC track, winding up and down with natural and/or artificial obstacles.

The MTB Eliminator format was introduced in 2010 in Germany and tested in two UCI events in 2011 (Pickering/GBR and Nove Mesto na Morave/CZE). It was officially integrated into the World Cup in 2012 with three events in Houffalize/BEL, Nove Mesto na Morave/CZE, and La Bresse/FRA.
