Tereza Hujerová: Reaching personal goal at Bad Gastein
Reflecting on the challenges that led her to skip the last race of the previous season, Summit 2 Senja, Tereza confessed, “Due to the fact, I was so tired at the end of the last season, I made some changes in my summer training.” This adjustment involved easing into the training season with bike sessions, a new experience in road biking that she found surprisingly enjoyable and became her primary mode of movement during the longest summer sessions.
The summer, however, was no leisurely stroll in the park for Tereza. Battling illnesses, she embraced the challenge, integrating more short intensity sessions into her regimen. “It was not an easy summer, but now I think everything is going well, and we will see in the future races if it was enough.”
In the realm of mental resilience, Tereza emphasized the importance of the right company. “For me personally, I don’t have a mental coach. My key to staying relaxed mentally and focused for racing is to spend time with the right people, who don’t put pressure on me.” Adding an extra layer of support, her boyfriend’s role as a driver in the team for Ski Classics allows them to navigate the season together.
Collaborative Training and Alpine Altitudes: Team Robinson Trentino’s Crucial Role
Team Robinson Trentino’s commitment to athlete development played a pivotal role in Tereza’s journey. “In the training season, we did two training camps with the team in Dolomites. It’s much easier to tackle long and demanding sessions when you’re surrounded by teammates in mountain scenery like this,” she shared, underlining the collaborative spirit within the team.
Looking ahead to the season, Tereza outlined her goals, stating, “My main goal for the season is to be a better skier than in the previous one. I would like to finish some races in the Top 20.” With a keen focus on Marcialonga and Jizerská, her home races, Tereza aims to leverage her familiarity with the tracks for a strong performance.
Discussing Team Robinson Trentino’s dynamics, Tereza highlighted their international camaraderie. “We are like an international family. Every nation has specific training methods, so we can share and make the training more effective.” The team’s base in Dolomites provides altitude training, a crucial element for Tereza, who normally resides at 800 meters.
As we delved into memorable moments, Tereza shared a poignant experience from a race in Vålådalen, Sweden, in 2021. “It was not a normal race for me. The first full season in Ski Classics, and such a lot of kilometers was more about survival than a race.”
This race taught her about the boundless capabilities of the human body and the power of the mind. “I learned that many times it’s just about our mind and the ambition to do something.”
