This Finnish Pro Team has been very successful in enhancing the culture of the sport on their home turf and producing good results. After securing the 21st position in the Pro Team ranking during Season XV, Team Mäenpää will proudly carry the colors of Finland’s flag in the upcoming winter season.

For the upcoming Ski Classics Season XVI, Team Mäenpää is bringing seven Pro Team athletes, three women and four men: Amanda Nyfors (2000), Anni Huovinen (2000), Silva Kemppi (2005), Viktor Mäenpää (1994), Juuso Mäkelä (1994), Hannes Mäenpää (1996), and David Sulkakoski (1995).

Team Mäenpää’s journey to Pro Team status began with a group of construction workers who shared a passion for competitive skiing.

“Ski Team Mäenpää is a Finnish association registered in Finland since 2015. Our Elite Team, named Team Mäenpää, is a long-distance skiing team that takes part in Ski Classics. The team’s main sponsors are GRK Suomi, GRK Sverige, GRK Estonia, and NCE Oy. Another important partner is MKM Solutions Oy,” says Pro Team Director Kim Mäenpää.

As they enter Ski Classics Season XVI, this Finnish Pro Team has set clear objectives to guide their journey:

“The goal of the cooperation is to develop our skiers to the next level and grow the interest in long-distance skiing in Finland,” says Mäenpää.

Team Mäenpää harnesses the power of “Finnish sisu” – an innate Finnish quality often defined as determination and perseverance – which propels them forward, no matter their challenges.
