After many years on the long-distance circuit, Team Futura Trentino GTE Elettrica is entering the Ski Classics Pro Tour Season XVII with a reinforced structure, new international additions, and a clear objective: breaking into the top 15 Pro Team rankings.

At the helm of Team Futura Trentino GTE Elettrica is Pro Team Director Riccardo Mich, who has been strategically reshaping the squad since the end of last season.

With a stronger foundation, reinforced roster, and continued emphasis on developing Italian talent, the team is taking a bold step forward.

“We have solid foundations and strong ambitions,” says Mich to Ski Classics and ProXCskiing.com.

“The project gains momentum through a key partnership with Team Robinson Trentino, resulting in a strengthened roster that combines experience, youthful promise, and international flair.”

A strengthened men’s lineup

The men’s team maintains a solid Italian identity, led by the Mich brothers. Riccardo continues balancing his double role as both athlete and Pro Team Director, while Stefano is back with full motivation after ending the last season on a high note and aiming for top-30 finishes.

The team welcomes three strong reinforcements:

  • Mattia Armellini, who delivered an impressive 23rd place at Vasaloppet.
  • Giacomo Ponti (born 2003), a rising name who finished 53rd in the overall standings and placed among the top 10 in the Youth bib competition.
  • Stefano Dal Magro, returning with high expectations after a promising start to last season was cut short due to injury.

International boost for the women’s team

On the women’s side, Team Futura Trentino GTE Elettrica continues its international collaboration, adding French talent and maintaining Swedish consistency. The new signings are:

  • Laurie Flochon Joly, 29th overall in Season XVI and with three top-20 finishes, including a strong result at Birkebeinerrennet.
  • Margaux Gaillard (born 2002), 42nd overall last season, and eager to take the next step in her career.

They join returning Swedish Pro Team athlete Emma Ivarsson, whose solid performances helped elevate Team Futura from 26th to 22nd in the Pro Team standings last season.

Building a clear identity

While aiming high, the Pro Team remains committed to its roots.

“Team Futura’s emphasis on an Italian core, without compromising on quality, reflects a deliberate choice. The blend of redemption stories and rising stars adds both depth and motivation, with the team determined to challenge Europe’s elite,” explains Mich.

This mix of comeback stories and young potential gives the team both depth and character, strengthening its identity on the Pro Tour.

A well-prepared project

Team Futura’s pre-season preparations are already in full swing. A successful training camp in July at Passo Rolle, held in collaboration with the newly formed Slavia PojiĆĄĆ„ovna Robinson Trentino, laid a strong foundation for the months ahead. Further camps are scheduled for September and October.

With strategic partnerships and a strengthened lineup, Team Futura Trentino GTE Elettrica is determined to make its mark in Season XVII and climb higher in the Pro Team rankings.
