A new name joins the Ski Classics Pro Tour this winter. Team Emtec Nordic, based in Switzerland, is preparing for its debut season in the circuit, bringing together seven athletes from four different countries.

“This internationally composed Pro Team has its roots in Switzerland and will make its debut in the Ski Classics series in the upcoming season. The team brings together athletes from a variety of countries, including Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden. Its mission is to promote cross-country skiing, especially long-distance skiing, in its home country and across Central Europe, and to inspire young athletes to engage in Nordic skiing,” says Pro Team Director and Pro Team athlete Manuela Deigentesch.

“The Pro Team places great emphasis on providing strong support for both up-and-coming and more experienced athletes. It is currently working on establishing a training community in the northern and southeastern regions of Switzerland. The goal is to offer a platform for both young and seasoned athletes to compete at the highest level of long-distance cross-country skiing,” Deigentesch adds.

International lineup

For Ski Classics Season XVII, Team Emtec Nordic will line up seven Pro Team athletes, three women and four men: Manuela Deigentesch (1993), Marlies Nipius (1982), Valerie Widmer (1997), Adrian Bosshart (1994), Kevin Schilling (1991), Robin Locher (2000), and Johan Österlund (1989).

The mix of experienced and young skiers reflects the team’s goal of development and representation across different levels of long-distance skiing. The Swiss-based squad will make its Pro Tour debut at the Bad Gastein Pro Team Tempo on December 13, 2025, aiming to build consistency throughout the season.
