Team Aker Dæhlie enters Season XVIII with the reigning Ski Classics World Champion, Amund Riege, a completely new women’s squad, and a new Pro Team Director in Sondre Bollum.

Riege became a Ski Classics Legend at the Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja, where his fifth victory in events of the main tour also sealed the overall title for the Ski Classics World Championship Season XVII. He won Engadin La Diagonela, Jizerská 50 and the Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja last season, and has started the new season in form, winning the Klarälvsloppet Challengers event in September.

Established in 2022, the Norwegian team won the Pro Team Competition in Season XIV (2022/2023) and has been a fixture among the top Pro Teams on the circuit ever since. Bollum takes over as Pro Team Director from Chris Jespersen.

The men’s squad is unchanged and includes two Ski Classics Legends. Riege is the reigning Ski Classics World Champion, and Kasper Stadaas finished fourth overall last season with wins at the Bad Gastein Criterium and Marcialonga, plus second place in the Climb competition. The pair went one-two at Marcialonga, with Stadaas winning by 0.5 seconds. Max Novak, Petter Stakston, Mathias Aas Rolid and Gaute Kvåle also continue.

With that Marcialonga success making the team hungry for more, it has recruited Italian wax manager Luca Angelini for his expertise in Central European conditions.

The women’s side is entirely new. Louise Lindström and Kati Roivas arrive from the disbanded Team Eksjöhus, and Julie Kvale Støstad from the disbanded Team Ramudden.

Lindström had her best season last winter with two individual podiums, and Støstad won the first-ever Bedřichov Sprint. Roivas finished second at the Ski Classics Challengers event Hautdoubsloppet in July and third at Klarälvsloppet in September. She is also the team’s only QCI athlete, which matters in the Pro Team Competition, where 50% of the Champion points of a team’s best athlete from an emerging country count towards the team total.

With the team having missed out on the top spot in the Pro Team Competition, her points could prove valuable should the team make a push to win the competition for the first time since Season XIV.
