The double Ski Classics Challengers event, Sovereign 2 SilverStar Ski Marathon, Classic and Skate, will take place this weekend, April 5th and 6th, 2025, in Vernon, Canada.

The Sovereign 2 SilverStar Ski Marathon is a double Ski Classics Challengers event, with a 41km classic race on Saturday, April 5th, and a 41km skate race on Sunday, April 6th, 2025. Shorter 21km events are also available, and new for this edition is the Stussi Night Sprints on April 3rd.

According to the Local Organizing Committee, the 4^th Annual Sovereign 2 SilverStar Ski Marathon (S2S) is all set for some terrific events this week. The signature events are on April 5^th and 6^th – 21km and 41km ski marathons in both Classic and Skate techniques. The events continue to grow with 1.000 registrations this year!

The S2S is primarily a citizen race, where ‘Finishing is Winning’. Skiers range from 6 to 85 years of age, with a large group of middle-aged Masters! There are also competitive and elite/ racer categories. This year, the S2S is thrilled to welcome an impressive roster of world-class athletes from Norway, Sweden, Australia, the USA, and Canada. This includes World Cup athletes, Olympians, National team members, and Ski Classics Pro Team athletes.

Several of these athletes will kick off their S2S events with the Stussi Night Sprints on April 3^rd, a new event this year. The racecourse is 1.1km and promises to be an exciting format for both racers and spectators. In the Race/ Elite category, prize money and medals will be awarded for 1^st ($1,000), 2^nd ($500), and 3^rd ($200) for Males and Females. In the Competitive/ Development category, medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers for Males and Females.

The S2S experience is rounded out with some other events too. Back by popular demand is the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival in SilverStar Village. And the S2S is part of a week-long Seismic Spring Mountain Festival, which is an annual season finale at SilverStar Mountain Resort.

The S2S welcomes skiers, their family and friends, and spectators from near and far. For those who travel, SilverStar Mountain Resort is a full-service mountain community with many accommodation options and restaurants in the Village. The ski season finale coincides with spring in the Okanagan Valley (a 20-minute drive down the mountain). You can enjoy winter and spring on the same day and visit some impressive golf courses, wineries, markets, local farms, hiking and biking trails, and beyond.
