As the Pro Tour takes a brief pause, Ski Classics Pro Team athletes Kati Roivas and Anikken Gjerde Alnæs share how they’re celebrating Christmas.

With the Ski Classics Pro Tour off to an exciting start, Christmas offers athletes a rare moment to step back from the intensity of competition and training.

Anikken Gjerde Alnæs: A Remarkable Comeback

Anikken Gjerde Alnæs has had a whirlwind year. In June a roller ski accident involving a car led to surgery and months of rehabilitation, but her determination has paid off in spectacular fashion. In December’s Pro Tour opener in Bad Gastein, Austria, she claimed a victory in the 7 km time trial and followed it up with a second-place finish in the Criterium the next day.

This Christmas, Anikken is cherishing time with family while keeping up her momentum:

“I will spend time with my family at home before we head up to our family cabin at Sjusjøen. I’ll get back to my rehab and training routine as well as participate in a local distance race at Sjusjøen as I do every year.”

This season’s start has been remarkable, Anikken currently sits in 2nd place in the Champ Bib standings with 510 points.

Kati Roivas: Recharging in the Alps

For Kati Roivas, this season marks her second with Team Eksjöhus, and she’s already proven her consistency as one of the team’s top performers.

Kati’s Christmas plans are refreshingly simple:

“I’m spending Christmas at home in the Alps (France). It is nice to have some time at home, do a good training block and relax before the season continues in January. At Christmas, I like to start my day with a ski session and spend the rest of the day with family and surely eat a lot of good food so nothing special, just loading the batteries for the intense competitions ahead.”

Kati, currently ranked 8th with 383 points in the Champ Bib standings, she’s focused on keeping things steady as she prepares for the demanding Pro Tour races ahead.

Stay tuned as the Pro Tour season resumes in the New Year!
