Ski Classics Season XVI: Bad Gastein ITT & Criterium this weekend in Austria

This weekend, December 13 to 15, 2024, it’s time for the Ski Classics Season XVI kick-off in Austria. After the Pro Team Presentation on Friday, stay tuned for the Bad Gastein ITT on Saturday and the Bad Gastein Criterium on Sunday.

Ski Classics Pro Team Presentation Season XVI

Ski Classics starts Season XVI with the Pro Team Presentation in Austria. On Friday, December 13, 2024, the Pro Teams and their Pro Team athletes participating in the Pro Tour will be presented on stage at the Felsentherme in Bad Gastein ahead of Season XVI.

Here, the Pro Teams and athletes will showcase their brand-new race suits, unveil sponsors, and introduce athletes and recruits to the world of long-distance skiing.

Bad Gastein ITT

On Saturday, December 14, Season XVI will burst into competition mode with the ITT in Bad Gastein, Austria, covering a distance of 7 kilometers on a flat course. This new event format will open the standings in an interesting way.

The flat ITT is a new race format for Season XVI and is organized as a new 200-point ITT. Athletes will start with a 1-minute gap.

Bad Gastein Criterium

The season continues on Sunday, December 15. The Bad Gastein Criterium spans over 36 kilometers in Sportgastein, offering participants breathtaking views of the enchanting surroundings of the Tauern Alps.

The Bad Gastein Criterium, characterized by a mass start kermesse event, comprises several laps on a challenging course, high action on sprints and climbs, pushing skiers to their limits.

  • Place: Sportgastein, Austria
  • Distance: 36km
  • Time: 8:35 CET Men / 9:00 CET Women

  • Climb Checkpoints: 21km and 29km
  • Elevation Gain: 528m
  • Last Edition Winners: Emilie Fleten (1:50:34.0) and Kasper Stadaas (1:37:29.1)
