Petter Northug sets sights on Vasaloppet’s revenge

Petter Northug
Last winter, Petter Northug, Team Northug Crucible, debuted at Vasaloppet. However, he was not satisfied with his performance and is now determined to make a comeback.

In a press conference earlier today, Ski Classics presented the winter’s Grand Finale, Janteloppet, an event conceived by the renowned traditional cross-country skier and Pro Team athlete Petter Northug.

During the press conference, Northug revealed that he would also be actively involved in the coming winter season. The thirteen-time World Champion did his first season in Ski Classics last winter with his own Pro Team, Team Northug Crucible, achieving a fifth-place finish at Grönklitt Criterium as his best result.

The big goal for the Ski Classics Season XIV was Vasaloppet, where he finished in 48th place. With that disappointment in mind, Northug is now determined to seek redemption:

“I raced Vasaloppet for the first time last winter and didn’t get the desired result. So, I’m going back to ‘Moraparken’ and perform better,” stated Northug during the press conference and added:

“I will have my team next winter as well, and there will be more news in the future. I’m eagerly looking forward to the upcoming season. Ski Classics is an exciting concept, especially now that Janteloppet comes in as the Grand Finale. I will give my utmost to ensure a fantastic experience for both participants, on-site spectators, and those following the race from home,” concluded Northug.
