Axel Jutterström was impressive at the Swedish Championships in Boden, finishing with two medals. Now, the Team Eksjöhus Pro Team athlete is looking forward to the final events in Ski Classics Season XV.

Axel Jutterström has had a strong season. Today, he is the best Swedish man in the Champion competition overall in fifth place. In addition, he is fighting for the win in the Pink Youth bib against his Team Eksjöhus teammate, Thomas Ødegaarden.

“My biggest focus is to do good races and take one race at a time. It would have been nice to be on the podium in one of the last races,” says Axel Jutterström during the Ski Classics Live Sessions ahead of Reistadløpet and Summit 2 Senja.

Medal at the Swedish Championships

Axel arrives in Norway for the weekend after a successful Swedish Championships in Boden, grabbing an individual medal and another in the relay with his ski club teammates. In addition, he was in the fight for the podium in the 50km race for a long time but eventually finished fourth.

“The first race, 20km skate, was the nicest. The club got a triple (podium), and I was second; that was the highlight of the championship.”

After a few days of rest, a challenging final part to the Ski Classics Season XV awaits with Reistadløpet and Summit 2 Senja this weekend and Janteloppet in the next one. Axel is a little unsure of his form after intense days in Boden.

“I don’t know how my form is. There have been some good and some bad ones after the Swedish Championships. We’ll have to see how it goes,” Axel says.

How do the final races suit you?

“The two races this weekend suit me well! I like tough races, so I think it will suit me well.”

Will you be double poling or diagonal striding this weekend?

“I don’t know about Reistadløpet. Before the Swedish Championships, I was thinking about double poling, but after I got two classic races that felt okay, I haven’t been sure. I will decide on Friday when I test the skis, and then we will see how confident I feel with kick wax. But Summit 2 Senja will be double poling,” Jutterström concludes.
