Emilie Fleten leaves Team Koteng. The 28-year-old Norwegian had offers from several Pro Teams ahed of season XII. She choose Tord Asle Gjerdalen’s Team XPND Fuel of Norway.
“My goal is to become the world’s best long distance skier,” says 28-year-old Fleten to Norwegian VG.

Season XI was Fletens second year in the Pro Tour and she managed six podium places. Four second places and two third places. In the Champion competiton, she finished third behind Team Ramudden’s Lina Korsgren and Ida Dahl. After the winter, several teams were interested to sign Fleten. Among them Team Ragde Eiendom, the team she represented her first season in the Pro Tour.
“There were a lot of offers, including from Ragde. It would have been fun to be on a team with Marit Bjørgen, but I more like to be in a team where I can help develop the team and not least get more girls to focus on long distance skiing, “says Fleten to VG and continues;
“My goal is to become the world’s best long distance skier. Then I have to beat everyone. It would have been cool to beat Bjørgen.”

“The important thing for me is that we can get Norwegian girls into long distance skiing. There are a lot of guys, but it would have been nice with more girls. And in that way, it can be an advantage that we represent different teams,” Fleten states.

Tord Asle Gjerdalen, himself second Champion competition behind Emil Persson, Lager 157 Ski Team in Season XI, is, of course, happy to have received Fletens signature.
“She is Norway’s best long distance skier, and she has the future ahead of her. So it’s fantastic to have her on the team. It testifies that more people will take it in what we do and what we stand for and what we try to achieve,“ says Gjerdalen to VG.
