The Ski Classics Challengers events, Ganghoferlauf Classic and Skating, are confirmed for this weekend in Austria with some changes.

Ganghoferlauf entered the Ski Classics Challengers series a few years ago with two long-distance skiing races and will be able to host the double event (Classic and Skating) this year with some changes due to challenging weather conditions.

With over five decades of events, Ganghoferlauf has long been known far beyond the Tyrolean borders. Originally planned to take place in Leutasch with a 50km race in classic technique on Saturday, March 2, and a 42km event in freestyle technique on Sunday, March 3, both races are now relocated to Seefeld due to difficult snow conditions and shortened to 37.5km.

According to the Local Organizing Committee: “Unlike in many other regions, we can organize a race. However, due to the difficult snow conditions in Leutasch, we had to decide to reschedule the race to Seefeld after a long wait for snowfall. This is the only way we can prevent cancellation and guarantee a fun run on the snow-covered trails,” and added:

“Due to the rescheduling, there will be changes to the running distances and limited starting places.”
