Engadin La Diagonela Summer Challenge becomes part of the Ski Classics Challengers circuit with an 11 kilometers hill climb mass start roller ski race in classic technique in Châtel-St-Denis, Switzerland.

The event is a unique 11km roller ski race created by the former Pro Team athlete Arnaud Du Pasquier. The event is part of the Dupaski Festival 2023 and joins the Ski Classics Challengers calendar to celebrate the Nordic ski summer season on July 6, 2023.

Just a few weeks after the cycling Tour de Romandie stage in the same place, the event takes over a large part of the course to offer the participants an incredible uphill race open to professional and recreational skiers alike.

According to the Local Organizing Committee, thanks to the absence of downhills, the race is accessible to all levels of participants because cross-country skiing is, above all, a popular sport.

“Take up the challenge of this 11km route and climb the 500 meters of vertical ascent. With an impressive start from the Place d’Armes car park, you will end your race admiring a breathtaking view overlooking the plain just beyond the Rathvel mountain pasture. Come and measure yourself against this breathtaking course and feel the excitement of the ascent in a friendly and sporty atmosphere!”

Arnaud Du Pasquier is pleased to be joining the Ski Classics Challengers circuit:

“As a long-distance racer for the past four years, I have strongly believed in the added value that Ski Classics brings to the table. By organizing high-quality races that offer a popular and inclusive experience, Ski Classics is shaping the future of not only long-distance skiing but also the broader Nordic skiing community, especially as we transition towards an experience-driven economy. The Engadin La Diagonela Summer Challenge embodies this vision, aiming to be a race where elite athletes can showcase their best performances while also providing an opportunity for anyone to participate,” says Du Pasquier and adds:

“Being recognized as part of the Challengers circuit is an immense honor for the entire organizing committee of the Dupaski Festival. We are excited to represent the circuit and promote its values of fair competition and accessibility to all. This partnership aligns perfectly with our goal of fostering a clean sport that is open and welcoming to everyone.”
