Could miss the Ski Classics premiere: “It’s a bit in the danger zone”
Alvar Myhlback turned down the World Cup in Davos to race the Ski Classics season opener in Bad Gastein. Now, the entire weekend might be in jeopardy.
The 19-year-old, who is dominating the U23 World Cup, is becoming an increasingly strong Olympic candidate, and several stars are urging him to compete. But Alvar Myhlback loves long-distance races. That’s why skipping the Ski Classics opener in favor of more World Cup races was never an option.

“It’s a bit in the danger zone”
It remains unclear whether the 19-year-old will be on the starting line in Bad Gastein when Ski Classics Pro Tour Season XVII begins on Saturday.
“It hasn’t been great, I’ll be honest. It’s a bit in the danger zone. But I like being in the danger zone. That’s where all the fun happens. But of course, this wasn’t the perfect scenario for this week,” Myhlback said at Wednesday afternoon’s Ski Classics Live Sessions.
“I’m keeping my fingers crossed. This is a weekend I’ve really been looking forward to, so I hope I’ll make it to the start.”
