Birkebeinerrennet, the 12th Pro Tour stage and final Grand Classics event of Season XV, was planned to take place this Saturday in Norway but has been postponed to Sunday, March 17, due to severe weather forecast conditions with heavy snowfall and wind in the mountains.

Ski Classics Season XV heads to Norway this weekend for another action-packed Pro Tour stage and Grand Classics event, Birkebeinerrennet.

Today, the Birkebeinerrennet Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has decided to postpone the competition, which was planned to take place on Saturday, to Sunday, March 17, 2024, due to severe weather conditions, including heavy snowfall and wind in the mountains.

The LOC believes this decision will improve and enhance participants’ experiences and ensure a great day on the tracks for all.

“We have decided to move the event to Sunday as we want to give the best possible experience to our participants. Thanks to all participants, volunteers, and partners for understanding the situation, says Hans Otto Olsen, acting CEO of Birkebeinerrennet.”

Ski Classics welcomes the decision and highlights the excellent work of the organization.

“We are very impressed by the professional job done by the Birken organization to make as good an experience as possible for recreational and elite skiers with the current weather forecast,” says David Nilsson, Director of Ski Classics.

For Ski Classics Pro Team athletes starting in the elite wave, the following new date and start times apply:
