The Ski Classics Challengers event Alutaguse Marathon takes place this Saturday, February 10, in Vasavere, Estonia. Get to know more about the event.

Alutaguse Marathon is a 43km long-distance ski race in classic technique and Estonia’s first Ski Classics Challengers event.

The event has over 20 years of experience and is one of the most significant cross-country skiing events in the Baltics. Every year, approximately 800 skiers from around the World come to the beautiful surroundings of the Alutaguse National Park in Vasavere, Estonia, to take part in the Alutaguse Marathon.

Alutaguse Marathon is a two-day event, and in addition to the 43km main race, a Ski Classics Challengers event, there is also a 10 and 21km night ski event in freestyle technique on the first day (Friday night), a kids race (500m and 2km), and a 21km classic technique race on the second day (Saturday).

According to the Local Organizing Committee, the tracks are in good condition:

“The conditions of the marathon tracks are very good today (February 2), and the track’s base is pretty solid! There is plenty of snow, and it doesn’t seem to disappear anywhere. It will get cold soon, and we can expect snowfall.”
