The Ski Classics ends Season XVI with a back-to-back Pro Tour event weekend with Reistadløpet on Saturday, March 29, and the Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Here is everything you need to know before the events.

REISTADLØPET

The final Ski Classics Pro Tour weekend Season XVI starts on Saturday, March 29, 2025, with the 46 km-long Reistadløpet, the season’s 13th event and one of the circuit’s most demanding courses.

The 46-kilometer long-distance race starts in Setermoen, in the municipality of Bardu in Norway, and goes through arctic landscapes and mountain tops before reaching the finish line in Bardufoss in the municipality of Målselv.

The course has challenging mountain climbs, but the scenery is breathtaking. So far, only Johan Hoel, Team Ragde Charge, has won the race by only double poling; this is in Season XV (2024).

Reistadløpet is already a true classic race in the Ski Classics Pro Tour series. It’s an epic course, with the Orta Climb also being an Iconic Climb, one of the four in the Pro Tour. After Orta, the mountain opens, and when passing the Folkfest at Kampenhytta, most skiers probably get goosebumps before heading down to the finish line in Bardufoss.

GRAND FINALE SUMMIT 2 SENJA

The Ski Classics Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja is the 14th and final event of the Pro Tour Season XVI, where the Pro Team athletes and their Pro Teams will be present to celebrate the end of the season on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

The 60-kilometer long-distance race starts in Bardufoss and ends in Finnsnes, passing through fantastic landscapes. Summit 2 Senja is a race from the mountains to the fjords involving two more municipalities, Sørreisa and Senja.

The Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja was introduced to the Pro Tour during Season XIV, and already in its first edition, the event has garnered recognition and acclaim, having been awarded the title “Best Event of the Year” in Ski Classics.

HISTORY AND THE REGION

Reistadløpet has a long history dating back to 1958. The event celebrates a local ski legend, Colonel Ole Reistad, a Norwegian pentathlon champion in 1922 and the ski patrol leader who won Olympic gold in St. Moritz in 1928.

Setermoen has one of the oldest army camps in Norway. Military education was established there in 1898 because of its strategic location in the middle of the mountains. The Norwegian Armed Forces have shaped the community through their presence in many ways, and hundreds of soldiers and officers are stationed there, making it the largest garrison in Norway.

Bardufoss has a civilian and military airport located about 82km north of Narvik and about 70km south of Tromsø, the largest city in northern Norway. Both Bardufoss and Finnsnes are very small, but they have their appeal and peculiarities, and the majestic nature around these places certainly takes your breath away. 

Finnsnes is a small town in the municipality of Senja in northern Norway. The city has about 5.000 inhabitants, is located on the mainland, and its famous landmark is the Gisund Bridge that connects Finnsnes to the island of Senja. 

The city’s port is part of the sea route from Tromsø to Harstad, with several daily boats to each town. Finnsnes, situated in the very north of Norway, is a great starting point for seeing the northern lights and the midnight sun. 

If you have extra time to visit, a day in Tromsø is highly recommended. The city center contains the highest number of old wooden houses in Northern Norway, and the oldest dates to 1789. You can enjoy the city’s vast range of places to eat and comfortable cafés with tasty pastries. In Tromsø, you can relax and let time stand still.

ICONIC CLIMBS

The Iconic Climbs give an extra spark to the most challenging climbs in Ski Classics. For Season XVI, there will be four Iconic Climbs. This weekend, it’s time for the third and fourth Iconic Climbs of Season XVI, Orta Climb in Reistadløpet and the Magdaskaret Climb in the Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja. 

The Iconic Climb, launched during Season XIV, is a category in the Ski Classics points table. The category is used for the most iconic climbs of the Ski Classics Pro Tour. 

The idea for the Iconic Climb category is that all climbs differ; some are tougher, and some have more history behind them. Ski Classics wants to enhance the interest around the climbs and reward the strongest athletes slightly more. 

The Iconic Climb points are 50% higher than a 100% points Climb. Winners get 45 instead of 30 points in the Climb competition. 

For Season XVI, there will be four Iconic Climbs. First, it was up to Cascata, the last hill to Cavalese in Marcialonga. The second Iconic Climb was Raudfjellet, the first long hill in Birkebeinerrennet.

The third is the Orta climb in Reistadløpet and finally is the Magdaskaret Iconic Climb in Summit 2 Senja.

4. Go to “Team Selection” and choose/buy up to 10 athletes + 2 Cubs using your starting balance of 40.000 Fantasy dollars. Check out the start lists before each event to ensure your athletes are on the start line. 
5. Don’t forget to mark one of your athletes as a Team Captain!
6. Go to “Leagues” and join an existing league or create your own to compete with your friends.
