Has put the nightmare season behind her – now the biathlon star is back at a level she hardly dared to dream of: Speaks out about the uncertainty.

Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold has put a troubled winter season filled with uncertainty and health problems behind her. Now the Norwegian biathlete finds herself in a completely different place than she dared hope for just a few weeks ago.

“I’m really glad I didn’t know what I was getting into,” she tells Dagbladet during the national team training camp in Oslo ahead of May 17.

Nightmare Season

The winter certainly didn’t go smoothly for the 28-year-old, who was in the fight for the overall World Cup victory right down to the last meter last year.

First, it was atrial fibrillation that ruined the entire first part of the season. Just before Christmas, she had to undergo surgery for it and missed over a month of competitions.

From Small Ups to New Downs

It wasn’t until Nove Mesto at the start of March that she truly got back on track after the heart issues. There, Tandrevold claimed her only individual victory of the season, winning the sprint. But the World Cup final in Holmenkollen two weeks later turned into a disappointment.

And then, just a couple of weeks later, she had to go under the knife again. Tandrevold had to withdraw from the Norwegian Championships to have her tonsils removed. In hindsight, she’s glad she didn’t know what was coming.

“I’m really glad I didn’t know what I was getting into. They say it’s worse as an adult, and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone,” she says.

A Whole Different Level

But now the biathlon star is back in full training. And the health problems over the winter have led Tandrevold to enter the season with a new mindset – and in great shape.

“I’m at a level that surprises me a bit. I have more energy than before, and I feel like my body isn’t as worn down, since I raced fewer events this winter. That also means I can start my base training earlier than last year,” says Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold.

All with one goal in mind: the 2026 Olympics, where the biathlon events will be held in Antholz/Anterselva.
