Eric Perrot, the overall winner of the most recent World Cup Total Score, decided to get a new rifle during his summer training.

The French biathlete had been competing with the same rifle since the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games season, during which he was a reserve.

Since then, Eric Perrot has progressed and become the world’s top biathlete, winning the Crystal Globe in the 2025/2026 season and racking up several podium finishes, including four World Cup victories this year.

The recent two-time Olympic champion at the 2026 Games (men’s relay and mixed relay) explained the reasons behind his decision.

“The rifle I’d been using for four years now was starting to show some wear,” he told the French media outlet NordicMag, before adding, “It was time to renew it.”

For his new rifle, the 2025 Individual World Champion chose a French company based in Grenoble, the host city of the 1968 Olympic Games: in recent years, Kiwi Precision has become a major player in the French biathlon equipment market, exporting its products to Germany and Sweden, among other countries.

For the French media, Eric Perrot explains why he chose this equipment manufacturer to design his new rifle: “What’s great here is the customization and adaptation. We were able to replicate the stock design I had, fine-tuning a few details and making improvements based on my experience: that’s a real plus. The result is a rifle that I hope to be able to use for at least the next four years!”

In the meantime, the biathlete will likely test his new rifle in competition this Saturday, September 19, at the French Summer Roller Ski Sprint Championships.
