Two years ago, Finnish biathlon star Mari Eder stepped away from competition due to health reasons. Now, she is preparing for a joyful new chapter – expecting twins.

“This summer has been all about growing humans 👶🏼👶🏼 There is still some way to go, but if all goes well, next winter we will be a family of four,” biathlon star Mari Eder writes on social media.

“Wish us luck,” she continues.

Forced to retire

At 37, Eder is looking forward to the next chapter in life. Two years ago, she stepped away from competition earlier than planned due to health reasons.

Eder had a distinguished career with four Olympic Games, 11 World Championships, and 350 World Cup starts. While she had anticipated her career eventually coming to a close, health concerns brought her retirement sooner than planned. Reflecting on that period, she described it as a mix of loss and opportunity, opening the door to new experiences beyond skiing.

Mari is married to Benjamin Eder, and the couple, who live in Austria, have been together for seven years. The twins will be their first children.
