The chaos following the Alliansloppet in Trollhättan continues. Now, 20 skiers have been disqualified.

Since Alvar Myhlback crossed the finish line first in the Alliansloppet on Saturday, the aftermath has taken several turns. Initially, the organizers adjusted the results to reflect the skiers who took a wrong turn with two kilometers to go. They stripped Alvar Myhlback of his victory and awarded it to Andrew Musgrave instead.

Following the weekend, the organizers announced that they would pay out double prize money, both to the six who finished first and the six who were at the top of the official results list.

20 skiers disqualified

Now, new developments have emerged. After Norwegian and Swedish parties appealed the decision, FIS has decided to disqualify all 20 skiers who took the wrong route, including Alvar Myhlback, Edvin Anger, and Anton Grahn.

– FIS has assessed what happened and subsequently changed the jury’s decision made on Saturday, explains competition leader Tobias Mattsson to Expressen.

Malte Jutterdal finished sixth, but the organizers later moved him down in the results. He is now disqualified as one of the skiers who made an incorrect route choice.

– My immediate feeling is that the jury panicked. They lost their heads on race day and didn’t really know what to do, says Malte Jutterdal to Expressen.

However, the disqualification brings one positive outcome: the yellow card that the skiers received, which would have lingered into the winter, is now revoked.

– It was an unnecessary incident that we couldn’t influence, so it’s good that we’re rid of the yellow card. But it’s strange how we skiers are affected when we were all friends in the finish area.
