Swedish cross-country skiing teams for season 2026/2027
The Swedish Ski Association has named its cross-country ski teams for the 2026/2027 season.
According to a series of press releases from the Swedish Ski Association, the A-National Team, Team Bauhaus, and Team Svenska Spel Junior National Team for the 2026/2027 season have now been selected.
“We are happy to present a squad with strong successes behind us. Now we will train together and continue the development towards the home World Championships in Falun in 2027. When we present this year’s team, we do so with both the present and the future in focus. We are entering a new Olympic period and have conducted an in-depth 360 evaluation of the operation – we know what we do well and what we need to develop. This has led to a clear focus on rejuvenation and a direction towards Vision 2030: to be the best in the world when the Olympics are held in France, says cross-country manager Lars Öberg.

A-National Team
According to the press release:
“The number of places in the A-national team consists of a distribution of eight women and five men, and where the men’s squad will be more concentrated to ensure a high level. New names on the men’s side are Truls Gisselman, Rehns BK, and Anton Grahn, IFK Mora SK, who both take the step up to the A-national team. Grahn has shown his mettle in the World Cup with two podium finishes in sprints and has measured himself against the absolute world elite. Trul Gisselman also impressed greatly during the season, not least during the Olympics in Milano Cortina, where he came home in seventh place in skiathlon.”
“The coaching team has worked intensively with the selections during the spring, and it feels great to be able to offer Anton Grahn and Truls Gisselman a place in the A-national team after their successes this winter. Especially in combination with Edvin Anger, William Poromaa, and Gustaf Berglund, who create a strong and hungry training group. On the men’s side, it is a new generation that we are giving space to, both in the A-team and Team BAUHAUS where we are releasing the younger skaters as we are in the starting blocks of a new Olympic period,” says Lars Öberg.
On the women’s side, Moa Lundgren, Åsarna IK, takes a place in the A national team.
“We have a women’s team that continues to show an extremely high level, including record results during the Olympics in Italy. That’s why it feels extra fun that Moa Lundgren is taking a step up to the A-national team, as she has been involved for a long time and delivered stable results at both the World Cup and the Scandinavian Cup,” says Lars Öberg.
The Swedish Ski Association initially offered nine spots on the women’s team, but Jonna Sundling has chosen to decline and has decided to run the training season on her own, before the competition season starts.
“After twelve years in the national team, I feel ready to try a new path forward in my career. My choice to stand outside the training group this summer and autumn is not about disloyalty or grudge against the association. In short, it is about providing myself with the best possible conditions to succeed during the next season in general and during the home World Championships in Falun 2027. I want to be clear that I have always enjoyed being in the national team and look forward to joining the team again when the season starts in November,” says Jonna Sundling.
Alvar Myhlback has also been offered a place in the A-national team after an impressive season with a podium finish at the World Cup, as well as a ninth place in the sprint during the Winter Olympics, but he wants to continue his long-distance skiing efforts into the coming winter.
“I was very happy to receive the offer, but I feel very excited and eager to continue with the plan that I had last season. To make my long-distance commitment, but to be able to combine it when the competition season starts,” says Alvar Myhlback.
“We would of course have liked to see both Jonna and Alvar in our team, but we have full respect for each of them choosing the set-up they believe in the most. Then, of course, there will be the opportunity to qualify for the World Cup and World Championships during the winter through results in qualifying competitions, so we hope we will see more of both Jonna and Alvar this winter,” says Lars Öberg.
