The cross-country skiing World Cup season 2025/2026 continues at the end of the year with the Tour de Ski. The Swedish Ski Association has now named its national team for the event.

Tour de Ski is the upcoming event of the cross-country skiing World Cup season 2025/2026. The event begins in Toblach, Italy, on Sunday, December 28, with sprint races in freestyle technique. On Monday, December 29, it’s time for the 10km Interval Start in classic technique.

The program continues on Wednesday, December 31, with the 5km heat mass start in freestyle technique, followed by the 20km pursuit in classic technique on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

After the events in Toblach, the Tour de Ski heads to Val Di Fiemme, also in Italy, for the final events.

On Saturday, January 3, there are sprint races in classic technique. Sprint races in classic technique take place on Saturday, January 3, before the Tour concludes on Sunday, January 4, with the iconic Final Climb, a 10km mass start in freestyle technique up the Alpe Cermis.

In a press release, the Swedish Ski Association has named its cross-country ski team for the upcoming Tour de Ski.

“With three exciting World Cup weekends under our belt, it’s time to both wrap up 2025 and kick-start 2026 in the best way possible – with the Tour de Ski.

“We are bringing a total of 19 athletes to the Tour de Ski. We haven’t had that many in many years, and it feels great that more people are getting the chance to go on a tour. There are still some Olympic spots at stake, and the Tour is an important part of that selection,” says national team manager Anders Byström.

Several skiers will have the opportunity to compete in the Tour de Ski for the first time, with names such as Lisa Eriksson, Anton Grahn, Alvar Myhlback, and Jonas Eriksson on the squad list.

“New skiers in the World Cup for the season are some of those who have performed well in both the Smart Energy Cup and the Scandinavian Cup in recent weeks. For example, Lisa Eriksson won both distance races in Boden, and on the men’s side, Jonas Eriksson and Truls Gisselman are back on the World Cup scene,” says Anders Byström.

There are many exciting competitions on the schedule, including a mass start in heats and a sprint that will be decided on the upcoming Olympic course.

“Those who are placed in the top 20 in the overall sprint cup have their own free places in the Tour de Ski, so they get the chance to try the Olympic course in Val di Fiemme on the penultimate day of the Tour. It probably attracts many to try it, just a few weeks before the championship starts,” says Anders Byström.

There are still three leaders’ bibs to fight for – the overall in the Tour, a climbing bib (climber bib), and the points cup, where Edvin Anger sprinted to the podium last year.
