This week, the Swedish national cross-country skiing team held a sprint race in Vålådalen, unofficially marking the start of the new season. There, Linn Svahn gave a clear signal of her form following the crash that kept her out of the World Championships in Trondheim.

Parts of the Swedish team are currently in Vålådalen for their final preparations ahead of the Swedish season premiere in Gällivare. They took the opportunity to quietly start the season with a sprint event organized by Bauhaus.

Linn Svahn had not competed since her crash before the World Championships in Trondheim, but on Monday, she was back on the start line. Svahn delivered a strong performance and was the fastest skier of the day.

“Linn looked good. Technically, everything was working well, and it was great to see her on the course and able to push fully,” said national team coach Anders Byström to SVT Sport.

According to the national team’s social media, Johanna Hagström finished second and Märta Rosenberg third. Some of the biggest stars were absent: Jonna Sundling and Emma Ribom are currently training at altitude, while Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson are training independently.

Anger dominant

In the men’s race, it was no surprise that Edvin Anger was the fastest. According to Byström, the skier from Hedemora looked very strong.

“Yes, Edvin won clearly. He looked very strong,” he said.

Anton Grahn from Team Bauhaus finished second, and Johan Häggström — who has been outside the national team — took third place.

The training camp in Vålådalen is the final one before the start of the Swedish season.
