Historic: Tjejvasan joins the Ski Classics World Championship
Tjejvasan has seen significant growth in recent years. It is now confirmed that the race will be part of the Ski Classics World Championship calendar for the very first time.
Today, Ski Classics announced the calendar for the upcoming season, revealing that the prestigious Tjejvasan will be included in the Ski Classics World Championship lineup for the first time ever.
Additionally, Vasaloppet will host another race for men the following day, featuring the same course.
“We look forward to organizing two more races with Ski Classics status in the Vasaloppet arena and showcasing our events on the international stage. The classic Tjejvasan will be a strong addition to the program, and the new 30-kilometer race for the elite men will be an exciting highlight. Together, we will continue to strengthen the sport of skiing both nationally and globally,” says Johan Eriksson, CEO of Vasaloppet.

Inviting high speed
The races will cover 30 km, starting in Oxberg and finishing in Mora. Tjejvasan will take place on February 27, 2027, followed by the men’s Oxberg–Mora Sprint on February 28. The competition promises high speeds and will serve as a rehearsal on the Vasaloppet course ahead of the main event the following weekend.
“The character of the races will further develop, and both TV viewers and the audience can expect action from start to finish. We look forward to continuing to develop the tour together with Vasaloppet and our athletes,” says David Nilsson, Director of Ski Classics.
The new additions mean that Vasaloppet will now host three of the Pro events in the Ski Classics calendar.
“With over a hundred years of experience in organizing ski races, we are confident that all participants on Sunday – youth, recreational skiers, and elite athletes – will have the best possible conditions to reach the finish line in Mora. Adding new Ski Classics races to the program brings additional energy and a new dimension to the fantastic folk festival that Vasaloppet’s winter week represents,” concludes Johan Eriksson.
