Norwegian star sets new course record in 10km running race
Norwegian cross-country skier continues to impress — not only on skis but also on foot. After his standout performance at the Oslo Half Marathon, where he clocked 1:08:47 and finished second, Andersen has now set a new course record at the Nøklevann Rundt 10km race in Oslo.
The 25-year-old Norwegian national team member Iver Tildheim Andersen from Rustad IL completed the hilly 10km course in 32:57, breaking the previous record of 33:26. His latest achievement follows a string of strong running results this fall, underlining his fitness and endurance as the winter season approaches.
At the Oslo Half Marathon last month, Andersen ran almost the entire race alone, finishing behind Sweden’s Senay Fissehatsion, who won in 1:06:18. His result sparked praise — and even playful comments suggesting he should “switch sports.”
Despite his impressive running form, Andersen remains fully committed to cross-country skiing. He already has two World Cup victories and five podium finishes, both of his wins coming in 10km freestyle races — first in Lillehammer in 2022, and then in Les Rousses, France, last winter.
Andersen ended last season strongly, taking silver in the 50km classic and bronze in the 10km freestyle at the Norwegian Championships in Hovden.
With the 2025/2026 World Cup season approaching, his off-season form shows that Andersen could be one to watch when the action returns to snow.
