A chapter in Finnish skiing history has come to a close as the country’s longest-standing long-distance ski team, Team Mäenpää, ends its operations following this past season.

For ten years, Team Mäenpää was a trailblazer in Finnish long-distance skiing. The team has been part of the Ski Classics Pro Tour since 2015, achieving success in the sport’s top-level series and providing a unique platform for many elite Finnish skiers to compete in long-distance skiing.

Now, the team is ceasing its operations, leaving Team Edux – at least for now – as the only Finnish Pro Team in the Ski Classics series.

Team Mäenpää published the following statement, thanking everyone who has been part of their journey:

All Good Things Must Come to an End

Ski Team Mäenpää was founded in 2015 with the main goal of investing in long-distance skiing in the Ski Classics tour. The aim was to develop long-distance skiing in Finland by offering interested athletes the opportunity to participate and grow as individuals in this team sport.

The team’s professional unit, Team Mäenpää, has now decided to end its long-distance skiing activities in the Ski Classics tour.

We are humbly grateful to all our sponsors who have been with us throughout these ten years. Maintaining a long-distance team for this long requires committed and reliable sponsors who support us through both ups and downs.

Over the past ten years, more than 30 elite athletes have been part of Team Mäenpää and have been given the opportunity to compete in this long-distance ski circuit. Thank you to all the athletes and the entire service team who have been part of this journey.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to @skiclassics and @davidnilsson for placing their trust and confidence in us during this journey. You create unforgettable memories for all of us who are part of this exciting environment. Thank you to all the Ski Classics teams who have challenged and encouraged us along the way.

We wish all our sponsors and athletes the very best for the future, and we thank you for being part of our story.
