Norwegian talent Oskar Opstad Vike impressed during Team Ragde Charge youth camp last week. Now he has signed a 3-year contract with the Pro Team.

Oskar Opstad Vike was one of over 100 committed young cross-country skiers who were selected for the talent training camp organized by Team Ragde Charge last week. This week, the 18-year-old signed a 3-year contract with the brothers Aukland’s long-distance skiing Team Ragde Charge.

Main focus on traditional cross-country skiing

Opstad Vike and the team management in Ragde Charge clearly state that traditional cross-country skiing is the main focus in the near future. But at the same time, the 18-year-old is curious and open about long-distance skiing and believes it will help him take new steps in his commitment to traditional cross-country skiing.

Opstad Vike will continue his focus on traditional cross-country skiing but will go long-distance skiing when the time and place suit.

“It is fun to see that several of the best skiers from traditional cross-country skiing have received a boost after they have included long-distance skiing and long-distance training as part of the mix. A good example is Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget, who raced several Ski Classics races and later won the 50km in Kollen,” says Opstad Vike.

Skilled Skier

Team Ragde Charge sees great talent in Opstad Vike and wants to make it easy for him to develop his qualities.

“For us, it is important to think about the future, and Oskar possesses extreme skills in double poling. He is fast, has endurance, and is good in mass starts. He will be with us at gatherings and activities under the auspices of Team Ragde Charge and gain access to unique expertise. We want to help Oskar become a good senior skier,” says Jørgen Aukland.

“We are very pleased to have a long-term agreement with Oskar, so time will tell if he will be the new Andreas Nygaard,” concludes Aukland.
