Alba Björnsdotter won the junior age group at Tjejvasan last winter. Now, she is joining Team Ramudden for the coming winter in parallel to the goal of taking a place in Sweden’s junior world championships team.

Team Ramudden is currently at a training camp in Norway, and there, junior Alba Björnsdotter does her first training with her new team. Now it’s revealed that the Swedish 19-year-old will start some long-distance races in the coming winter:

“I think long-distance skiing is very fun, and I have noticed that it suits me well, but I did not expect at all to join a team already for the coming season,” says Björnsdotter after she ended today’s first training session.

A four-hour workout with only double-poling:

“I’m the only girl in place here, so I got to go with the guys. It was tough but fun,” says Björnsdotter, who showed her long-distance skiing profile last winter when she won Tjejvasan’s junior age group. Now it is clear that she will start at Ski Classics in parallel with the focus on the traditional distances:

“I will go to all junior competitions, and it would have been very cool to take a place at the junior world championships in Whistler, Canada. Classic sprint is my favorite distance, so it’s something I aim for. When it comes to Ski Classics, it depends on how it fits with the competition program. But five or six competitions in Ski Classics are the plan. It would be very fun, and I love to compete,” says Björnsdotter.

Gustaf Korsgren, Team Ramudden Pro Team Director, is pleased with the recruitment of Alba Björnsdotter:

“Alba is in her final year at the ski high school in Järpen. During the past season, we have already been aware of her progress, partly through the victory in the junior class at Tjejvasan, but also that she has chosen to double pole in a few sprints. She really likes to double pole and has a coolness and an attitude that impresses,” says Korsgren.

Team Ramudden is in a generational change after Lina Korsgren retired and Ida Dahl has changed teams to Team Engcon.

In this weekend’s Totenrullen, Ida Palmberg was hit by a man during the race and suffered an injury:

“Someone was skiing into her right rear wheel, and she got some tension in her back. She is stiff, so Ida goes home from the camp to examine her injury,” says Korsgren.
