Marit Bjørgen, Team Ragde Charge, announced today that she is ending her career as a long-distance skier.

Marit Bjørgen, Team Ragde Charge, announced today that she is ending her career as a long-distance skier.

After two seasons on the Pro Tour circuit, the Norwegian long-distance skier is ready to put the skis on the shelf.

“It will not be another year as a long-distance skier. I’m giving up now. There will be no more dedication as I have done the last two years,” says Marit Bjørgen to Adressavisen

In April 2018, Marit Bjørgen announced her retirement from cross-country skiing, and in May 2020 made a comeback, joining Team Ragde Charge and the Visma Ski Classics circuit. She is considered one of the most successful cross-country skiers in history, grabbing 114 World Cup individual wins and a total of 15 Winter Olympic medals.

On the Visma Ski Classics tour, Bjørgen was second at Vasaloppet 2021, and during Season XII, she had four top 10 places in four events: 5th at the Individual Prologue, 6th at Vasaloppet, 5th at Birkebeinerrennet, and 2nd at Reistadløpet.
