Last winter’s breakout star hospitalized – out indefinitely
The 21-year-old was one of last year’s rising stars. Now she is in the hospital, will miss the season opener, and has no idea when she can resume training.
Leonie Perry is out indefinitely. This was announced in a press release from the French Ski Federation on Monday evening.
The reason is that the 21-year-old has been hospitalized due to an eating disorder.
“Her condition does not allow her to practice her sport under the necessary safety conditions,” the federation writes in a press release.
The French cross-country skier took several top-ten placings in the World Cup last winter and was considered one of the country’s most promising young talents.
The Ski Federation gives no details about when Perry can return to training. The information is published with the approval of Leonie Perry.
Breakout star
The skier from La Bresse made her international breakthrough last winter and is considered one of France’s most promising young talents.
At the Olympics, Perry finished tenth in the 10km classic and 16th in the skiathlon. At the U23 World Championships in Lillehammer after the Olympics, she won bronze in both the 10km classic and the 20km freestyle. She also took several top-10 placings in the World Cup last winter and has performed well in international rollerski races.
