In 2015, Charlotte Kalla was at the peak of her skiing career and won gold at the home World Championships in Falun. Now the Swedish cross-country icon has been named an ambassador for the upcoming World Championships.

“I hope to see you along the tracks, because this is a celebration we will experience together,” Kalla says in a press release from the Organising Committee.

Charlotte Kalla ended her outstanding elite career after the 2021/2022 season. Her list of achievements includes, among much else, an overall Tour de Ski title, three Olympic golds, three World Championship golds and a total of 22 medals at international championships.

Four World Championship medals in Falun

Four of those medals came at the 2015 World Championships in Falun, with the highlight on February 24, when she claimed gold in the 10-kilometre freestyle race in front of a huge crowd.

“Falun has, and always will have, a special place in my heart. There, on the tracks at Lugnet, I experienced some of my greatest moments as an athlete. That is why I am proud and happy to be one of Falun 2027’s ambassadors,” Charlotte Kalla says in the press release.

More ambassadors

Charlotte Kalla is the fourth ambassador to be presented for the 2027 World Championships in Falun. The three ambassadors previously presented for the Championships are ski jumper Frida Westman and cross-country skiers Maja Dahlqvist and Truls Gisselman.
