This weekend, several traditional Swedish and Norwegian destinations are launching their early snow offers. Here is an overview of destinations with snow guarantees.

Winter is approaching, and already in October, a number of Swedish and Norwegian destinations are opening their first trails on stored snow and/or artificial snow. Here’s the overview of the early snow offerings for 2026!

Leading the way with early snow offerings are our neighbors to the east. Idre Fjäll, located about 40 kilometers over the border from Drevsjø in Engerdal, opens on Friday, October 23. Vålådalen and Orsa Grönklitt will open on Saturday, October 24, while Bruksvallarna is set to open either on Saturday or just after the weekend.

After that, it will be a flurry of openings on both sides of the border.

Idre Fjäll, Sweden: October 23

The Swedish ski destination in Dalarna has long been a popular spot for early snow training camps for numerous national teams in both cross-country skiing and biathlon. In recent years, more and more Norwegian teams have also chosen Idre for their final training camp before the season opener.

On Friday, October 23, Idre Fjäll will open up to five kilometers of cross-country trails on stored snow.

“We start the cross-country season already in October, thanks to our stored snow. The trails open early so you can take your first trip of the year long before winter truly sets in. Our trails wind through the mountain forest and offer sparkling views, fresh mountain air, and the feeling that winter is finally here,” writes Idre Fjäll on their website.
