With less than two weeks to go until the 2023 World Championships in Planica, Slovenia, the US National Team was presented.

With less than two weeks to go until the 2023 World Championships in Planica, Slovenia, the US National Team was presented.

Planica, Slovenia, is the place for this winter season’s World Championships. The Opening Ceremony will be held on February 21, with ten competitions in 12 days and the last race being the men’s cross-country skiing 50km mass start race on March 5, 2023. 

In a press release, the US Ski & Snowboard has named their cross-country skiers for the upcoming World Championships. The USA named 18 athletes. On the women’s side, Canada presented eight skiers. On the men’s side, ten athletes are confirmed for the North American country. 

“We are very excited to bring this group of talented athletes to the World Championships in Planica,” said US cross-country program director Chris Grover and continues:

“We will be arriving at the World Championships with a lot of momentum after finishing the previous period of World Cup with multiple podiums and a ranking of third overall in the World Cup Nation’s Cup. We also will be bringing a very experienced and knowledgeable staff that is dedicated to helping these athletes achieve peak performances at the Championships. Planica has been one of our favorite venues over the years and we are really looking forward to coming back to the Julian Alps.”
