The final stage of the cross-country skiing World Cup season 2023/2024 will take place this weekend in Falun, Sweden. The Swedish national team is now presented.

Falun, Swede, is the place for the last stage of this season’s cross-country skiing World Cup. The Falun World Cup starts on Friday, March 15, with a sprint race in classic technique, followed by a 10km interval start race in classic technique on Saturday, March 16. Then, a 20km mass start race in freestyle technique on Sunday, March 17.

In a press release, the Swedish Ski Association has named their cross-country ski team for the World Cup Falun, Sweden. 

“Now we enter the final stage of the World Cup, and it is incredibly nice to finish on home ground in Falun – in front of a large audience. Since we are the host nation, we get the opportunity to race with a national quota, meaning 12 Swedes who can start in each race and gives the opportunity for some new names to test the World Cup,” says Swedish National Team Manager Anders Byström.

“For example, offering starting places at the World Cup to Junior World Championships medalists Anton Grahn, Evelina Crüsell, and Alvar Myhlback is exciting. Also, a fond reunion at the World Cup for some of our Team BAUHAUS skiers – such as Märta Rosenberg, George Ersson, and Moa Hansson,” Byström continues.

Question mark for Poromaa and Halfvarsson

“William Poromaa and Calle Halfvarsson are selected for the squad, but the coming days will determine if they start. Calle Halfvarsson still feels the effects of the cold and respiratory infection he got after Lahti. We will wait and see depending on the development in the coming days,” says the team manager and adds that Poromaa is still being examined for the thumb injury he suffered after a fall before the 50km race in Holmenkollen.

“Our medical team continues to investigate the injury and hopes to have clear information before the weekend. He is out until further notice, and of course, we hope to be able to see him at the start already on Friday,” says Anders Byström.
