Double Olympic gold medalist Nils van der Poel has entered the business world as an agent. The only skier in van der Poel’s team right now is a newly crowned Swedish champion in cross-country skiing.

In March, Nils van der Poel announced that he was ending his elite career after a season in which he won double Olympic gold in Beijing.

Now he has embarked on a new sporting role. He has just started a management company:

“Many athletes have contacted me in recent months with questions about everything from how to develop fitness to how to build a media profile. Now I have started this business where the main goal is for us to win more Swedish Olympic golds,” says Van der Poel to Radiosporten.

A skier is connected to the company so far; Fredrik Andersson, the Swedish cross-country skier who won the Swedish Championships 50km race last spring but later was not selected for the National Team this season. 

“The background to our collaboration is that Björn Forslund, who is part of the company, is married to my aunt, so that’s how the first contact was made,” says Fredrik Andersson.

What areas are they going to support you in?

“It is partly about the financial area with partners and tips and advice. Everyone knows what Nils has achieved in recent years. Of course, I hope to get advice from him. I’ve made some changes to my training regimen, but I like to keep them to myself. As for the collaboration with Nils, it is quite new. Everything starts now, and I’m looking forward to this,” says Andersson to langd.se.
