The Swedish skiing talent was on his way to Lugnet in Falun when he crashed his car. Four weeks later, he was back on the start line.

Jonatan Lindberg is one of Sweden’s top young prospects and is doing his first season in the senior class. But just over a month ago, it almost came to an end. The 20-year-old from Leksand crashed on his way to training in Falun.

FaluKuriren was the first to report the accident.

“I don’t remember much of what actually happened. But I’ve been told that the car went off the road, hit a lamppost, and then went into a tree,” Jonatan tells FaluKuriren.

Taken to the hospital by ambulance

The skier was transported by ambulance to Falun Hospital, where he received reassuring news.

“They didn’t see anything on the MRI scan. So, I was very lucky in my misfortune – probably a lot thanks to the fact that it was such a new car,” he says, adding:

“I’m just happy to be alive and not in a wheelchair.”

The accident left marks not only physically but also mentally.

“Of course, it was a big trauma to crash the car, and it leaves marks in your mind that will take time to go away – if they ever do,” says Jonatan.

Back among the top

When the Svenska Spel Summer Tour took place in Falun just over a week ago, Lindberg was back on the starting line.

“I was just happy to be able to start so soon after the accident, so I didn’t think much about my performance,” Jonatan says.

He finished fifth in the sprint and seventh in the distance race.

“But it turned out pretty well after all.”
