Italian national team for the Ruka World Cup
Ruka, Finland, is the place for this year’s cross-country skiing World Cup premiere. The event starts on Friday, November 24, with a sprint race in classic technique. On Saturday, November 25, a 10km classic style race with individual start awaits. And on Sunday, November 26, the World Cup premiere weekend ends with a 20km mass start race in freestyle technique.
In a press release, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) has named their cross-country ski team for the upcoming World Cup premiere in Ruka. Italy will start with 9 athletes. On the women’s side, Italy will start with 3 skiers. Already on the men’s side, 6 athletes will start for the European country.
According to FISI, Italy boasts only one podium in Ruka, obtained by Federico Pellegrino in November a year ago: the Aosta Valley skier finished third in the pursuit race.
