The cross-country skiing World Cup season 2024/2025 starts in less than a month in Ruka, Finland. The Italian national team is now selected.

Ruka, Finland, is the place for this year’s cross-country skiing World Cup premiere. The event starts on Friday, November 29, with a 10km interval start race in classic technique. On Saturday, November 30, a sprint race in classic style awaits. And on Sunday, December 1, the World Cup premiere weekend ends with a 20km mass start race in freestyle technique.

In a press release, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) has named their cross-country ski team for the upcoming World Cup premiere in Ruka. Italy will start with 12 athletes. On the women’s side, Italy will start with 4 skiers. Already on the men’s side, 8 athletes will start for the European country. 

According to FISI, before heading to Ruka, the Italian Team is heading to Muonio, Finland, for a training camp from November 3 to 18.

“The Finnish Muonio will host the training camp that approaches the World Cup season from 3 to 18 November. Technical manager Markus Cramer has in fact called up twelve athletes from the major groups for the Finnish training period that will end about ten days before the seasonal debut of the top circuit, scheduled for 29 November in Ruka, also in Finland, with a 10 km individual in classic, followed in the following days by a sprint, still in classic technique, and a 20 km mass start skating,” says the press release.
